Men Against Violence Against Women (MAVAW) is
a philosophy which seeks to address, the Violence Against Women, in modern day society and
by extension, the violent resistance, expressed by some women as a last resort to our
historically entrenched male domination and oppression.
The academics may want to consider MAVAW, as the development of the "Men’s
Movement", with a Caribbean flavour and a by-feminism component.
Consequently, MAVAW can be accessed by all men and operates at three (3) levels of
intensity. The common factor at all levels, is that men accept the concept within MAVAW
and affirm to the promises in the code : Promises of Responsible Orderlies (P.O.R.O.).
